“Misis Hanep Buhay” Cynthia Villar Filed COC

Former Las Pinas City Rep. Cynthia Villar filed her certificate of candidacy at the main office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Intramuros, Manila last Tuesday morning, October 2.

Mrs. Villar, more famous as “Misis Hanep Buhay” known with her advocacies helping Filipinos by providing livelihood projects, social enterprise, repatriating distressed OFWs.

About Cynthia Villar:
She earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines, which recently recognized her as one of its Distinguished Alumni.  She completed her Masters in Business Administration at the New York University.  She’s a financial analyst and college professor until she married Former House Speaker and Senate President Manny Villar in 1975.  She then helped her husband in various entrepreneurial ventures, eventually making Vista Land the biggest homebuilder in the Philippines. She managed a private development bank from 1989 to 1998.

An entrepreneur (“Misis Hanepbuhay”), financial analyst, professor, an OFW, women and an environment advocate, supportive wife and most of all a mother of three well-raised children.
Mark Villar, whom I also met and had short conversation during the opening of Black Canyon Coffee (see my post, here) is also active in social and civic concerns recently filed his COC for congressman of the lone district of Las Pinas last October 3, 2012The coffee shop is said to be the largest coffee company in Thailand and opened is first store in the Philippines which is located at Las Pinas City.

Paolo and Mark are graduates of the Wharton School of Finance—University of Pennsylvania. Her only daughter, Camille, is a Business Management graduate at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Paolo now is the Chief Executive Officer of their publicly–listed housing company Vista Land, while Camille is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Vista Land’s upscale housing subsidiary Brittany Corporation and a co-host at TV variety program Wiltime Bigtime. Mark is a member of the Philippine House of Representatives of the Lone District of Las Piñas City.

Lead by its Managing Director, Cynthia Villar is now celebrating its 2oth year. Part of this year’s celebration includes: environment-related advocacies, inauguration of Sendong Memorial for victims of typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro, completion of the Sipag Center in Las Pinas and its resource center for poverty reduction.
She said “Saving a river, securing livelihood is a passionate view on the approaches made to save the Las Pinas-Zapote Rivers and the interlinkes social enterprises which were created to sustain the environmental objectives.”
For twenty years, the foundation has been doing good job, kudos to the Villar Foundation, to Mrs. Cynthia Villar and her family! It’s an honor to meet you and to get to know more of your advocacies!
